Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to: Maintenance Manager
  • Direct Reports: 2

Key Areas of Impact:

  • Manufacture parts and assemblies required for the factory i.e shafts, conveyors, chutes, platforms etc.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality to all repairs completed as per the deadline and within project timelines
  • Identify areas or parts which require further investigation for replacement in the future, providing a report of possible RCA.
  • Ensure all workshop duties are fulfilled in compliance of the Health and Safety regulations.
  • Coordinate morning meetings with teams to understand the requirements and priorities of the workshop for the day as well as current status of work being completed.
  • Submit daily updates to the Maintenance Manager with regards to:
  • Repairs, maintenance status, parts and labour demands.
  • Manage all special projects which are in progress.
  • Work and backlog management.
  • Manage and maintain all workshop equipment to ensure safety and in good operating
  • Support maintenance shutdowns through audits, planning and execution 

Supervision of Staff

  • Supervising the maintenance and repair functions at all times.
  • Prioritize plan of action in regard maintenance and repair demands.
  • Report any defects and repairs to the necessary Manager.
  • Ensuring that scheduled maintenance and repair work is carried out in the turnaround period with a minimum of overtime.
  • Ensure safe work environment at all times.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Manager, Foremen and Production staff regarding the repair requirements and ad-hoc work.
  • Maintain a good working relationship between Engineering and Production to promote greater co-operation, efficiency and motivation.
  • Coordinate all staff requirements in terms of planning for overtime and weekend work in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide a constructive plan to manage additional hours in advance to ensure proper manpower allocation.
  • Complete Individual Performance Appraisals (IPA’s) and Development plans with staff.
  • Plan all staff leave cycles ensuring the correct staff compliment for any operational requirements.
  • Provide mentorship and training to all learners and apprentices within the workshop and company.

Administration Duties

  • Ensure all costs are kept within the operation budget and maintain high standards.
  • Management of maintenance and repairs using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Approve all SAP workflows on the system.
  • Check and verify all Best Time clocking in’s for efficient and correct payments.
  • Submit all required payroll information as per deadline demands.
  • Ensure pre-approval of overtime for any workshop staff.

Material and spares management

  • Produce design drawings that can be used to estimate bill of quantities for manufacturing needs
  • Interpret design drawings and manufacture to specifications
  • Liaise with suppliers and the engineering buyer for any workshop material required.
  • Submit Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and/or quotations to the procurement staff for purchase orders and payments.
  • Maintain good track record of material purchases in line with the work conducted. 

Projects and contractor management

  • Manage and oversee execution of maintenance and small-scale capital projects OTIF.
  • Manage and oversee contractors that conduct work on site.

 

What It Takes to Succeed:

Experience that set you up for success:                       

  • Minimum 4 years as a Foreman or Team Leader in a similar role and environment
  • Proven track record and experience in a Food manufacturing environment
  • Experience in management of maintenance projects
  • Minimum 2 years 1stLine Supervisor experience

Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success:

  • Matric / Grade 12 or Technical NQF4 qualification
  • The ideal candidate will hold a Trade Test qualification in Boilermaking.
  • Completed Supervisory or Leadership certificate – advantageous

Additional Requirements that will enhance your impact for success:

  • Solid PC Literacy - including MS Word, Excel knowledge
  • Working experience on SAP
